Lycée des métiers de Bazeilles

Lycée de Bazeilles is a Public High School located in the department of Ardennes closed to the Belgian border. The high School is focused on the education for the Hotel trade, restaurant Industry and Tourism in the Regional Education Authority of Reims. It hosts and trains over 500 students. Lycée de Bazeilles has already set up several international projects with the support of the International and European Affairs direction of the Regional Council. In 2014, It has applied for the label “European High school” (Lycée européen) agreed by the Regional education authority. Since September 2014, the high school of Bazeilles provides only technical and professional trainings for the professions of Hotel trade, restaurant Industry and Tourism. - Professional Baccalaureate in restaurant industry: cook and service in dining room. - Technical baccalaureate in hotel trade and restaurant industry: training in sector of Cook, service and accommodation. - European Sections: In tehcnical baccalaureate, students can practice either English or German during some practical lessons. - A two years higher technical degree with as specialization either management or Restaurant cook or service. There is another two years higher degree focus on Tourism. - An upgrading one year training enabling students without any Hotel or Restaurant background who wants to enter the 2 years higher technical degree. - A one year specialization degree in pastry There is also the possibility to follow training as lifelong education. The students come mainly from the local area which is rural area. Nevertheless students can come from wider area due to the fact that Bazeilles is the only High school of the Region providing all the trainings focus on Hotel trade and restaurant industry. Students are from 15 years old to 20 years old. There is a real and strong wish to make students and teachers facing foreign languages and cultures with, by instance, the organization of a contest, European meeting or during the professional training... By the way, we ask the students in European sections to organize an activity to spread English at least once a week. With the same objective, we propose to students to do an intern abroad. The host of a volunteer will be done in this context. The volunteer will lead and initiate activities to make aware of the benefits of European mobility and to improve the intercultural learning through non-formal method in the High School of Bazeilles.
