On the Road - Associação Humanitária

Mutableffect is an association based in Oliveira de Azeméis, where we develop awareness activities for migration issues. Refugees Welcome Porto is Mutableeffect's main project, whose main mission is to contribute to the creation of a welcoming culture. It is a project that emerged in Porto, as an Informal Youth Group, which now took the idea further through the establishment of an Association. For this reason we also develop activities in Porto, and we have as our essential partner Casa das Associações, which supports us and provides us with space for various activities - cinema sessions, portuguese lessons, quiz sessions, debates, and several meetings. Our focus is to support refugee people in their lives in Portugal, trying to mitigate, as far as we can, the difficulties of adapting to a different reality. Thus, we provide support in housing, teaching Portuguese, organizing cultural and leisure activities, employability support as well as legal and psychological support. We also offer mentoring support in partnership with the High Commissioner for Migration's Plataform - Plataforma Mentores para Migrantes (ACM). In addition, we have a strong focus on raising awareness and seek to create a culture of greater acceptance by diminishing stereotypes, hate speech and discrimination.
