CEIP AUSIAS MARCH

CEIP Ausiàs March is a public school located in Alzira (Valencia), Spain. It is has been a public elementary school for more than 40 years. Alzira is a town, with over 46.000 inhabitants, which has a very different industrial activity that includes fields such as food, agriculture processing, publishing, furniture, transports, etc. Two languages are spoken here: valencian and spanish. Nowadays, our school staff consists of 30 teachers and we have nearly 450 students. Classes start at 9:00 and finish at 16:30 from Monday to Thursday and on Fridays classes starts at 9:00 and finishes at 14:00. We have students from 3 to 12 years old, it means kindergarden and elementary school. We have 2 groups per grade, it means 18 groups. We are a big school with big spaces, there are classrooms for each group of students. There are also different classrooms for Music, English, Special Education, ICT and the library. Our school have a big gym and a big playground for PE lesson. An important place in our school is the garden, almost all the school is involved in taking care of it. In our Center we have a CIL (Communication and Language) classroom, therefore, one of the main objectives of this project is the inclusion of these students and, in general, of any child. We have experience of three years at the programme of language assitants but never in hosting Volunteers from the European Solidarity Corps, so we have decided to participate.
