Vilnius Silas School

Educators of Vilnius Šilas School are looking for partners who would cooperate and share experiences on ways to improve socialization and integration of people with intellectual disabilities in the society. Students from 7 to 21 years of age attend our school. We pay great attention to social education activities; however, we would like to learn more of ways to make the most of the knowledge of our educators, premises and financial resources of the school. Our school offers music therapy; it has a theatrical studio, art laboratory and organizes therapeutic exercises. As of October, 2015, our students have the opportunity to participate in hippotherapy, canitherapy sessions in a stud farm. Our school seeks to develop emotional state as well as improve health and motivation of our students so that we could consistently prepare them for an independent living, i.e. teach them to do household chores (eg. cooking, house cleaning), feel confident in the immediate environments (eg. shopping in a store, pharmacy, placing an order at a pizza parlour), improve communication skills, so that after they graduate, our students would be able to lead as independent life as they possibly can, to get integrated into the society and to find a job. Students of special pedagogy and speech therapy complete their internships at our school.
