The National Old Folks of Liberia (NOFOL) is a humanitarian organization, non-Governmental, non-political, and non-profitable. NOFOL was organized on the 5th of December, 2010 and established on February 3rd 2011 and incorporated on 1st June 2012 In July 20th of the same year (2012) NOFOL was accredited by the Government of the Republic of Liberia through its Ministry (Planning and Economic Affairs) and subsequently on September 14, of 2012 NOFOL received the first certificate of business registration, 13 December 2012 NOFOL was awarded a duty free tax clearance certificate with a memorandum of understanding from the Ministry of Health and Social welfare, Division of ageing of the Government of the Republic of Liberia and now refer to the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection in 2015. NOFOL has been involved in the welfare services and advocacy for the protection of old people in Liberia as well as the under privilege and destitute in Liberia. Moreover, NOFOL has worked and closely collaborating with other ageing organizations and have organize a Coalition of Caregivers and Advocates for the Elderly in Liberia (COCAEL), working in collaboration with key government ministries, NGOs faith base organizations, families, local traditional leadership at county, district and community levels for the welfare of the old people in Liberia. NOFOL has been in the business of conducting adult literacy educational forums, to educate the old people of their rights. On the 22, of September 2015 NOFOL attendant the UN- General Assembly in New York and was invited by the NGO Committee on Ageing in New Work to address issues on the plat of older people at which time the committee introduce an Adult Literacy program for the most poorest Country, concept note was writing for eight Organizations to apply, but to our surprise over 80 organizations apply for the same grant, the committee then reply suggesting that all projects should stop until funds are available, April 12 2016 NOFOL received Special Consultative Status with the UN-ECOSOC.
