Centro Teatrale Bresciano - CTB

CTB Centro Teatrale Bresciano (Brescia Theater Center) was founded in 1974 and, since 1994, it is recognized as Prose Stable Theater (Teatro Stabile di prosa). In 2015 it received the prestigious ministerial recognition "Remarcable Cultural Interest Theater" and, during season, it has reached 5,467 subscribers and 85,000 tickets, of which over 35% belonging to less than 25 years-old people. CTB has always been a reference point for the cultural sector of Brescia, thanks to its synergy with the Municipality (readings in the libraries of the urban system, free shows on anniversaries and cultural activities), the Province and the Region (Lombardy live shows and "Invito a Teatro" project) and the academic world ("CTB for schools" project involves almost 200 institutions of each school grade in the Province through education projects in the theater as a path to discover and know the structure of a traditional theater). CTB has also active collaborations with the main cultural and entertainment institutions and associations of the territory for cultural activities of social nature. Over the years, leading figures of the Italian theater scene have collaborated with CTB (such as Massimo Castri, Nanni Garella, Cesare Lievi, Sandro Sequi, Gianfranco Varetto, Werner Waas, Carmela Cicinnati and Peter Exacoustos, Valter Malosti, Andrea Taddei, Renato Gabrielli, François Kahn, Mina Mezzadri, Monica Conti, Vincenzo Pirrotta, Marco Plini, Elena Bucci and Marco Sgrosso, Andrea Battistini), experimenting very different theater styles, from experimental to Italian and European contemporary dramaturgy. CTB season foresees a continuous alternation of cycles dedicated to the Italian theater, the Russian, the French and the English ones, with international exchanges of great interest, always paying attention to the choice of high-value texts, where theatricality is the emanation and incarnation of the written page, i.e. text as the soul of the theater. In the last few years, furthermore, CTB has introduced a new cultural line that foresees the destruction of the conventional barriers between traditional theater and experimental one, through the design of shows set in non-theatrical spaces, always looking for new audiences.
