Directorate of People with Disabilities(Engelliler Müdürlüğü)

Directorate of People with Disabilities(Engelliler Müdürlüğü) is disability service unit of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. It serves for people with all kinds of disabilities living in Istanbul. It aims to improve the capacities, environmental conditions and the quality of the life of people with disabilities and support their independence. SERVICES OFFERED BY DIRECTORATE OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT SERVICES: With the help of psychological support services, it is aimed to increase the participation of individuals with disabilities and their families to the social life and to gain skills to deal with individual and environmental problems. Individual and group consulting, family educations, seminars and speech & language therapy are provided. TRAINING SERVICES: Trainings that improve the social, self-care and vocational skills are provided. Special education programs, vocational trainings, summer school services and exam preparation courses are offered. SOCIAL SUPPORT SERVICES: Information and Guidance: Information, counselling, referral to internal and external departments and follow-up of these referrals are carried out through expert sociologists, psychologists and registrars. E-Consulting and Live Support: Information about disability services is given to individuals with hearing and speech-language disabilities via social media. Culture, Art, Entertainment Services Hairdressing Service Employment Support Services: It is aimed to support individuals with disabilities to participate in occupantional life. Legal Rights Consultancy Services Medical Support & Medical Maintenance and Repair Services REHABILITATION SERVICES: Rehabilitation with sport activities: Depending on the nature of the disability, specialist trainers are offered training in individual and team sports for each disability group. Hydrotherapy (Water Therapy) is another rehabilitation service that is offered. CAMPING SERVICES: Free vacation opportunity is offered to people with disabilities and their families within the standards of a holiday village at Şile and Florya Summer Camps. TRANSPORTATION SERVICES: Free transportation service is provided to the individuals with disabilities who live in Istanbul and cannot use public transportation.
