Maisons des Enfants - MA.D.E.

The ONG Maisons Des Enfants, currently operating in Italy and Madagascar, started the activities in December 2007 with the opening of the first shelter for street children in Antananarivo, the Malagasy capital: "Maison de Famille", accredited by the Ministry of Population of Madagascar, offers shelter to children in a state of neglect. In 2011, the activities of the Mere-Enfant Center began, a multi-purpose day center dedicated to the holistic care of minors and their mothers, aimed at protecting children, preventing abandonment and developing the socio-economic autonomy of families. Four years later, Maisons Des Enfants Onlus (MA.D.E.) association was officially established also in Rome, registered in the Italian register of non-profit organizations since 5 October 2011. In 2012 MA.D.E. received the Accord de Siege from the Government of Madagascar in order to be able to operate in the country, in full harmony with the national authorities. The important recognition, renewed every two years, represents an official certificate of esteem and allows the association to continue more incisively in its activities in defense of children's rights.
