LGBT Youth Scotland is the largest youth and community-based organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in Scotland. The charity's mission is to: “empower lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people and the wider LGBT community so that they are embraced as full members of the Scottish family at home, school and in every community.” LGBT Youth Scotland currently delivers work across three teams. These are: Youth Programmes Team: delivering youth work, youth groups, thematic youth sessions and youth events in 6 areas of Scotland. This includes providing sexual health advice and support, drop in groups, outreach, counselling and social activities for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people. National Development Team: delivering a range of community capacity and cultural programmes across Scotland, this team leads an adult volunteering programme, community engagement projects to gather views and build confidence of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community members and LGBT History Month events and training. Policy & Participation Team: delivering work to promote and enhance equality at a policy level in Scotland, this team works with the wider public, professionals and young people to gather views, devise campaigns for support and train professional to ensure equality of mainstream services. This team also coordinates our approach to challenging homophobia in education and delivers a wide range of work with schools and teachers.
