Association "Piepildīto sapņu istaba" is a small organization, which started work in 2009. It was established by former volunteers who have been living abroad and who have gained experience in non-formal education through participating in and coordinating various local and international educational and social projects taking place in different European countries outside Latvia. Organization was founded with a goal to create opportunities for young people with limited access to higher and vocational education and(or) people facing long-term unemployment to engage in non-formal education programs, culture and art activities, gain new skills, develop their talents and consider alternative career opportunities. Young people in age from 18 to 30 are still one of our main target groups, and we offer them activities focused on topics such as personal development and wellbeing, initiative and social entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, media and communication, creative writing, leadership, intercultural learning and project management. As the organization developed, we've started to work more and more also with adult learners - mostly with youth workers, facilitators, trainers and teachers, and sometimes with a more general public that includes people of all ages and occupations. We are now providing also workshops and courses about different creative learning methodologies for educators - with a goal to improve the quality of formal and non-formal education through introducing new methods and exploring how to design an educational process that would contribute to mental and physical health of the learners and respond to needs and challenges in their communities. In the past 9 years, we have especially focused on developing body and movement based methodological approach in non-formal education, covering topics of embodied peace building, leadership, creativity and community building. The structure of our organization consists of a network of educators and activists with similar values and aims. All of us work as freelance trainers and cooperate with different organizations and institutions. At the moment there are two employed staff members. Other members are working on a volunteer or a service contract basis. Bigger teams are formed on the basis of particular ideas and initiatives that we would like to implement. Thus our structure is open to those people who might need more support or active engagement in meaningful activities due to loss of job or other reasons and also to those who come with ideas that meet goals and values of the organization.
