Rational Enthusiast Association Latvia

Rational Enthusiast Association Latvia (REAL) is a youth-focused NGO dedicated to empowering young people through non-formal education, active citizenship, and both local and international opportunities. Its mission is to strengthen democratic values, foster critical awareness, and equip young people with the competencies necessary for personal, social, and professional development. Based in Alūksne, a small town near the Russian–Estonian border, REAL addresses challenges such as limited access to education, youth emigration, immigration, and the inclusion of refugees and disadvantaged groups. The organization places strong emphasis on employability, entrepreneurship, and digital literacy, offering trainings, workshops, and initiatives that enhance both soft and hard skills, encourage innovative thinking, and create local opportunities for sustainable community development. REAL also develops activities, seminars, and trainings focused on mental health, sexuality education, gender equality, democracy, human rights, environmental sustainability, biodiversity, and digital innovations, ensuring that young people are prepared to face modern challenges with resilience and responsibility. Although relatively new, REAL is led by an experienced team of youth workers, trainers, and project managers. Its activities include non-formal learning programs, seminars, conferences, cultural and charity events, and green initiatives. By collaborating with municipalities, schools, and youth centers, REAL supports the growth of self-aware, competent, and responsible young leaders who actively contribute to building an inclusive, fair, and sustainable society.
