Maltepe Children and Youth Closed Prison Institution started its operations on 06.06.2008 by accepting convicts/detainees in order to house, rehabilitate and reintegrate convicts and detainees into society. Maltepe Children and Youth Closed Penitentiary Institution is within the borders of Maltepe District, approximately 14 km away from the district center and within the Maltepe Penal Institutions Campus campus. The area within the enclosure wall of Maltepe Children and Youth Closed Penitentiary Institution is 48,000 m2. The area of the Penitentiary Institution building is 26,000 m2. Maltepe Children and Youth Closed Prison Institution is designed according to the single bunk bed system and consists of 3 blocks: A, B, C. In the institution; - 36 units for 9 people each, - 2 (12+12) temporary rooms for 24 people, - 8 single rooms, - 3 single-person security and precaution rooms, - With 5 close observation rooms, - There is an infirmary with 2 beds. The institution is also used in the education and rehabilitation activities of convicts and detainees; There is 1 multi-purpose indoor sports hall, 2 outdoor football fields with carpeted floors, and 2 workshops with 7 workshops following the completion of Blocks A and C. In order to continue educational activities in the institution, there are 6 classrooms, 3 computer laboratories, 1 play station classroom, 2 teachers' rooms, 1 study room, 1 psycho social service group study room, 3 psycho social service individual meeting rooms, 1 e-doctor room, 1 library and 1 conference, seminar, concert, theater etc. There is a multi-purpose hall with a capacity of 180 people, which is also used as a movie theater for events. In our Penal Institution, there are 2 open viewing areas, 3 closed viewing areas for 7 people each, and in addition to these, 4 lawyer viewing areas, 3 SEGBİS rooms are active and 3 family viewing rooms. At the bottom of the section where the administration block of our institution is located, there is a canteen, kitchen, infirmary, dental examination room, spiritual guidance room, 2 barbershops, a prayer room, a technician room and a staff cafeteria for the use of convicts-detainees and staff.In order to record and control the entrance and exit of the personnel to the administrative section and prisoner blocks, there is a Central Control room at the bottom of the center of the building to organize the entire circulation. From the central control room in our institution, 27 monitors and 504 IP cameras are monitored and recorded 24 hours a day in the institutional wards, common living areas, kitchen, main and intermediate corridors, institution entrance, prisoner reception, single rooms, temporary wards, ready force, chief officer's office, expression room, roof and environment. There is no blind spot anywhere in the institution that the cameras cannot see, except for private areas such as the room where children stay, bathroom and toilet.In the central control room, there is also a light warning system that indicates the opening and closing of internal network doors, a fire alarm system, an announcement system, and a central TV. and a central radio broadcasting system, a monitor with sensors that show wire security, computers that show entrances and exits to the institution, and video recorders where monitor images are recorded. In addition, central TV consisting of 22 channels broadcasting. There is a system. Thanks to this system, convicts, detainees and staff have the opportunity to watch television clearly without using an antenna. Control and supervision of both broadcast systems is carried out from the central control room. Since our Penal Institution is located within the Maltepe Penal Institutions Campus, its external protection is provided by the Gendarmerie Battalion Command. The campus is surrounded by barbed wire. There is a 5 meter high enclosure wall around the institution building. There are 10 Gendarmerie guard towers surrounding the surrounding wall. At the entrance of the institution, a gendarmerie private, Enforcement and Protection Officers are on duty at the x-ray devices. 2 gendarmes are on duty at the prisoner reception gate. There is a gendarmerie hut at the entrance to the institution from the perimeter wall, and there is 1 gendarmerie soldier there. There are 8 cameras on the roofs, one in each corner. There is also a motion-sensitive camera on the roof. There are 22 cameras that control the corridors between İhata and the institution. The ward gardens are surrounded by a double row of razor wire.
