Loughgraney Youth Club

Our youth club is based in a very rural isolated area in North East Clare with no public transport or amenities. However, we are well compensated with a fabulous community spirit where our youth engage with the community in a very safe environment. We have successfully undertaken community projects as follows - Film Project "Inside Out", and Sculpture Project "Tree of Generations". Last year, we were privileged to have President of Ireland Michael D Higgins visit our youth club to unveil our community sculpture. Our film project was a huge success also. We provide a variety of activities for our youth aged from 13-25 and we encourage our older members to become leaders. This has proved very successful as we have approx 8-10 leaders between ages of 18-25. We promote positive communication and growth among our young people through ventures such as cinema trips, culture nights, community projects, team building games, outdoor education weekends, dance, visiting elderly, assisting in exam preparation & job applications, etc. We are in the process of setting up an internet cafe. We would dearly love to undertake a youth exchange on the theme of positive mental health and interlink it with our filming knowledge and social media. "Mol an oige agus tiocfaidh siad = Praise the youth and they will flourish".
