Cultural Initiatives Development Formation

Cultural Initiatives Development Formation is NGO from Skopje, Republic of Macedonia formed in 2008, located in the core of the city, with aim to encourage wide cultural dialogue emancipated of prejudices and stereotypes, motivate critical thinking, develop contemporary art theory and practice in Macedonia as well as promote exchange of cultural ideas and youth workers. We are working on establishing alternative space which is going to support production, development and promotion of contemporary cultural theory, critics and practice i.e. space where the cultural workers can present their own work and actively participate in cultural politics creation, exploration of human rights and society democratization as well. F.R.I.K. - Cultural Initiatives Development Formation is an independent cultural organization which is working on development of a relevant cultural scene beyond prejudices and stereotypes, achieved through motivation, creative work promotion and on the other side public and our own responsibility development in terms of providing conditions for socially engaged art production; youth intercultural dialogue and exchange and greater visibility of different contemporary art and cultural tendencies.in the first instance F.R.I.K. is formed as an enthusiastic effort for self engagement and sustainable development of a few young people with different cultural and professional background. Hence, F.R.I.K. works on different social levels trying to encourage the socially engaged art production, develop a strong basis for cultural lobbing and diversity and establish a platform for free critical thinking concerning many essential questions in our society.In these terms we are actively working on field in different locations around our country, which include marginalized population, cultural traumas or other kind of visibility which may be used for protection of human rights and cultural diversity via youth engagement. Our regular activities are focused on organizing FRIK Festival and other relevant artistic events which include people with fewer possibilities, marginalized groups and communities but in direction of their inclusion in the society and mixing with the mainstream community around the country. Last year FRIK Festival was opened with music performance of a person with cerebral palsy who this year was invited for a special price for life achievement of persons with disabilities. Thus our work contributes in raising awareness, acceptance as well as improvement of life quality of different groups of people who are living on the margins.
