Caglayan Science Culture and Art Association

Sourcing from its establishment principles, Çağlayan Science Culture and Art Society emphasises the importance of development challenges in Northeast Anatolia and specifically Coruh Valley by processing knowledge obtained by universities and/or other research institutions, education and publication establishments with the aims of the elaboration of regional and local economic activities, nature conservation, rural development and rural tourism in formal and informal systems. In this respect, the Society has been following the national and international programs since 2007 and supporting the transfer of universal knowledge into Erzurum and Coruh Valley for development challenges in especially tourism and its associated sectors. The Society prepared and implemented a project in 2010 titled "Understanding the EU Experiences in the conservation and use of Succulent Plants in the scope of EU Civil Society Dialogue: Micro Grant Program with the partnership of The Sedum Society (UK). As the result of this project, the society gained an opportunity for the collaboration with Edinburgh Royal Botanical Garden and Coruh Valley was promoted during the project activities. Later, in 2011, in the scope of EU People to People (P2P) Program, the Society representatives participated a one – week training program in Brussel titled “Supporting Ecotourism” and had the opportunities to meet associations and institutions working on the sustainability of tourism and local economic activities such as PanParks, Eurovelo and Responsible Tourism. From 2012, the society began successfully to transfer its experiences obtained through such activities in the region by preparing and implementing the projects such as DAPGenç-DAPFest (International East Anatolia Youth Festival) supported by Turkish Republic Youth and Sports Ministry; “Supporting the Process of the Participation of Yıkıklar Natural Protection area and Coruh Valley in Euro Velo European Cycling Routes Network” supported by Northeast Anatolia Development Agency (KUDAKA). The Society also supported the application of new ideas in the region by moving together Uzundere Municipality, Uzundere Governorate and Uzundere Evaluation of Woman Works Association (UZKADER). The Society has been the member of Development Board of KUDAKA since 2013 in accordance with the Decision of Ministry Board and expressing ideas for the works related to Northeast Anatolia Region. The society has also been supporting and taking part an innovation, development and women employing process Uzundere Municipality, Uzundere Governorate and Uzundere Evaluation of Woman Works Association (UZKADER) in the region beginning with East Anatolia Tourism Development Program supported by UNDP and TR Ministry of Tourism. The same process has been carried on since 2010 by KUDAKA. The Society has now been implementing a project supported by T.R. Mınistry of Interior Affairs in term tittled “I have a family in 81 province” and “Anatolia is under my wings” supported by T.R. Youth and Sport Ministry, both of which have social ingredients and activities for youths.
