About Organization
Dokuz Eylül University is a state university established in 1982 in Izmir, the third biggest city of Turkey. Regarding its experience of more than 30 years in higher education, the university has the advantage of acting at the center of regional network of universities in the Aegean region. It is the largest university in the Aegean Region regarding the number of students, academic and administrative staff. Dokuz Eylül University acknowledges the importance of education, research (including knowledge transfer) and innovation in the face of increasing global competition. Therefore, internationalization, innovation and quality in education are priorities of strategic importance for DEU. In this scope, DEU develops collaborations with both European and non-European countries for improving education, research and administrative capacity. DEU is a dynamic university which keeps growing with 14 faculties, 10 institutes and graduate schools, 3 schools, state conservatory, 7 vocational schools, 54 research centers. It also embodies Dokuz Eylul Technology Development Zone (DEPARK). By 2014 Dokuz Eylül Technology Transfer Office (DETTO) was established. DETTO is in the intersection of Dokuz Eylül University, DEPARK and Industry/Society. Previously, Project Office of DEU (PRODEB) had been working since 2004 and recently it is a part of DETTO. DETTO is working as an interface umbrella organization in Dokuz Eylul University while keeping touch with all departments. Its functions are creation of awareness, supporting, and coordination. Main tasks are supporting research activities and projects done in university or/and with industry collaboration, managing university-industry relations, managing intellectual property rights process and creating and keeping alive an entrepreneurship eco-system.
