Non-profit kindergarten "Nendre" was established in 1998 in the district of Snipiskes in Vilnius, Lithuania. „Nendre“ has developed an educational model, where individual differences are respected and valued and where every child has equal opportunities to develop as a unique personality without being limited by stereotyped expectations. Children's family members receive counseling and non-formal learning services and are encouraged to be involved in children‘s education and other activities of the "Nendre" community. Children from 3 to 6 years are educated in a mixed kindergarten group. School-age children can attend the day care center. The activities of „Nendre“ are open to all children and include children with different interests and abilities, from a variety of socioeconomic, religious, cultural, ethnic and family backgrounds, Lithuanian citizens and newcomers. Our mission is to provide educational and social integration services for families living in Vilnius, with a special focus on single-parent families. „Nendre“ has been one of the first organisations in Lithuania to adopt the Equal Opportunities Methodology in working with children and youth. The staff members regularly take time for self-reflection and analyze their behavior, communication and emotional response in terms of gender equality. While creating playing spaces and selecting learning materials and literature, teachers seek to foster values and attitudes that are free from prejudices and gendered stereotypes. Our services: • Pre-school and pre-primary education; • Day center activities for school-aged children; • Nutritious and locally prepared meals; • Speech therapy services; • Individual pedagogical assistance for children with special educational needs; • Linguistic and cultural integration of children from ethnic minority, migrant and mixed families; • Non-formal education for parents (development of parenting skills, promotion of volunteering, lectures and seminars on relevant topics); • Summer camps; • Support with food items to low-income families ("Food Bank"); • Cultural and social events for the Snipiskes district community.
