About Organization
Municipality of Prato, as a local public body, handles all tasks and responsibilities connected to the town's administration, it plans and promotes all kinds of social services aimed at the population, to ensure its social, cultural and economic development. Comune di Prato has always paid great attention to youth policies with avant-garde projects aimed at young aged 11-35. The symbols of Prato’s youth policy are Officina Giovani, Music School Giuseppe Verdi and Library Lazzerini, where young people can: • exercise active citizenship and active participation in activities that meet their interests; • develop creativity; • foster their autonomy and self-management; • exchange experience and cooperate to carry out projects; • attend courses and improve their competencies: • receive information of any kind (education, training, mobility, work, start up, spare time) and personal counselling; • develop an intercultural attitude and contribute to a multicultural social development; Great attention is paid to youngsters with less opportunities. The aim is to support them in reaching independence (work, life projects) and develop creativity: encouraging their attendance to events and cultural initiatives, supporting them in the organization of their own activities and events (cultural, music, sport events) and promoting the development of youth associations and self-employment projects
