About Organization
The mission of the Emigration Museum is to build a reality that welcomes everyone. Regardless of who they are, where they come from and where they live now. The core of the museum is the modern, interactive exhibition which focuses on different types of migrations within the last 200 years (immigration, emigration, internal migrations). Strong emphasis is put on the evocative and personal character of the storyline. It features testimonies, letters, interviews with migrants from various periods of time. One of the main principles behind the museum's permanent display is combining the history of migrations with current social issues and migration flows. It is even more visible in other projects conducted by the museum, especially research and educational projects, as well as debates and temporary exhibitions. The goal is to remind our viewers, that migrations have been present from the beginning of humankind and it will not stop. It is also important to include migratory movements when discussing the future global challenges. Through educational and cultural projects, the museum hopes to become a place of encounter and discussion. We want to bring people together – we give them opportunity to meet, share different perspectives, expand their horizons. Our daily activities are addressed to schools, families with children, youth, seniors, people with migration experience, people with disabilities and everyone interested in the subject of migration.
