About Organization
The Cabildo Insular de la Palma is a local public administration, which has the maximum political and administrative representation of the small island of La Palma, in the Canary Archipelago. The Cabildo is structured in different areas, one of which is the Area of Social Action, Equality, Diversity and Youth, with Youth forming an autonomous unit, with its own budget and scope of action. As functions, as stipulated in Canary Islands Youth Law 7/2007, it has the following powers, among others: To prepare and manage youth programs and actions on the island; coordinate information and documentation of interest to young people on the island, ensuring the best possible dissemination through the island youth information offices; promote the participation of young people, as a priority through associations, without excluding other alternatives; establish programs and actions that facilitate the personal autonomy of young people, aimed in a special way at the most disadvantaged; promote healthy lifestyle habits and attitudes of solidarity and respect for diversity in youth. Within this scope of action, programs are developed such as: island youth information services; carrying out island-wide activities related to the promotion of artistic and cultural creativity (La Movida or Saperocko), or related to the knowledge and protection of the natural environment (La Palma en Verde, The Astronomer's Workshop), participation and promotion of the associationism (Arrayate un Millo, promotion of the Youth Council of La Palma), promotion of personal autonomy (Youth Guarantee System, New Employment Opportunities program) and promotion of healthy lifestyle habits and attitudes of solidarity and respect for diversity (Affective sexual education, prevention of gender violence, integration of LGTBI + people, prevention of anorexia and bulimia, prevention of traffic accidents and promotion of sustainable mobility, prevention of eating disorders, prevention of addictive behaviors). All the programs, projects and actions are aimed mainly at the young population, understood as those between 14 and 30 years of age), although actions are also directed at political representatives of the local administration, and professionals and other social agents . El Cabildo Insular de la Palma es es una una administración pública local, que cuenta con la máxima representación política y administrativa de la pequeña Isla de La Palma, en el Archipiélago Canario. El Cabildo está estructurado en diferentes áreas, una de las cuales es el Área de Acción Social, Igualdad, Diversidad y Juventud, formando Juventud una unidad autónoma, con su propio presupuesto y ámbito de actuación. Como funciones, según lo estipulado en la Ley 7/2007 Canaria de Juventud, tiene por competencias, entre otras las siguientes: Elaborar y gestionar los programas y acciones juveniles de ámbito insular; coordinar la información y documentación de interés para los jóvenes en el ámbito insular, garantizando la mejor difusión posible a través de las oficinas insulares de información juvenil; fomentar la participación de los jóvenes, de forma prioritaria mediante el asociacionismo, sin excluir otras alternativas; establecer programas y acciones que faciliten la autonomía personal de los jóvenes, dirigidos de forma especial a los más desfavorecidos; promover en la juventud, hábitos de vida saludable y actitudes solidarias y de respeto a la diversidad. Dentro de este ámbito de actuación se desarrollan programas como: servicios insulares de información juvenil; la realización de actividades de ámbito insular relacionadas con la promoción creatividad artística y cultural (La Movida o Saperocko) , o relacionadas con el conocimiento y la protección del medio natural (La Palma en Verde, el taller del astrónomo), de participación y promoción del asociacionismo (Arrayate un Millo, promoción del Consejo de la Juventud de La Palma), de promoción de autonomía personal (Sistema de Garantía Juvenil, programa de Nueva
