Boodaville

Boodaville is an association focused on permaculture education (integrated, ethical, ecological design) and promoting regenerative practices, a step further than sustainability. The association is based in Barcelona, where We do “Urban Permaculture” activities and it also has a demonstration site and a community regeneration project near Caseres, Tarragona. At the Boodaville site next to Caseres we have an environmental classroom and we have done several courses and work camps there in recent years. The association aims to: - Project a paradigm shift towards a resilient, supportive and environmentally friendly society. - Create demonstration spaces for effective regenerative / sustainable practices - Share ideas on how to integrate permaculture in our lives, focusing on young people by organizing awareness raising and education activities on Permaculture, resilience, environment, sustainable development, climate change, biodiversity, ecology, regenerative agriculture etc. In the context of growing poverty and social exclusion, non-formal education is a way of sharing useful skills, increasing confidence and autonomy, spreading ideas about green entrepreneurship and systems thinking in order to use and design sustainable products and projects. European projects in this environmental education project increase mobility opportunities by motivating learners and strengthening cooperation between the world of education and training and the world of work. Young people or youth workers can benefit from this type of education and can make the most of the opportunities in the European space to promote projects and self-employment aligned with design objectives which are efficient and ethical and within ecological limits. We have been working with volunteers in Boodaville for ten years. In addition to European projects and work with volunteers, the usual activities of our association include, theoretical and practical courses, the creation of a demonstration space with examples of energy conservation techniques, integrated design, efficient use of natural resources, responsible consumption, and a more sustainable economy. We promote reflection on the current consumption model and invite people to think more about the circular economy. We have seen that the activities have a very positive impact on the young people who participate and our organization and partner organizations have been able to increase capacities to coordinate projects and integrate ecosocial design in our projects. In the rural community of Caseres the projects are integrated with the activities of local people and we collaborate with mayors and town councils of the towns in the area to promote sustainable living. In Barcelona we are collaborating with entities in the Poble Sec neighborhood to promote the creation of green spaces, a new community garden, a mobile environmental classroom and solidarity activities with social and economic benefits. Boodaville is active on social media and the new website has information and resources on our designs, permaculture in general, and activities we organise. We are active in permaculture networks, youth groups, and we work with more than 20 international partner organizations. Thus we hope that the positive impact of our activities are broad in scope and reach the European economic and social sectors in general.
