About Organization
Foundation of Garai Haz is a non-governmental organisation, which founded in 1992 by locals. Our aim is to provide a living for people with difficulties. Essential for the idea of the foundation is the belief in the future of each disabled. They should also have a family-like quality of life. Our organisation is controlled by a board with 7 members and the founder was the local pastor of Gara. The foundation wants to offer the opportunity for disabled adults to be full and appreciated members of society instead of isolation. For this reason, we have a workshop for disabled people since 1993, which is located in Gara, a small village in Southern Hungary, near to the Serbian border. In 1999 we founded a small group home for 10 people with disabilities in Baja. There are 4 helpers working in the house, social workers, social assistants and a nurse. 1 of them lives there, too and shares their daily lives with the disabled people. There are many programs in the house and outside, we are very open and often are visited by friends and different volunteers, who also help us a lot.
