About Organization
Džūkste elementary school is a general education institution in Džūkste village which has approximately 130 pupils (of which 90 in elementary school, and 60 in preschool groups). The pupils come from both Džūkste and Lestene villages. There are three education programs in the school: preschool education, general education, special general education programme for pupils with special needs. The school has a wide range of programmes of education of interests. It has been 20 years already that the school has an active 4-H club – 307. Džūkste’s 4-H club. “Latvian 4-H” is one of the biggest children and youth organisations in Latvia which has 130 4-H clubs all around Latvia. It means that in all these 4-H clubs there are approximately 1600 children and youngsters. In Džūkste’s 4-H club there are approximately 15 active kids and youngsters. The aim of the organisation is to: - enhance the development of personality by helping kids and youngsters prepare themselves for an independent work life and integration in a rapidly changing society; - involve children and youngsters into shaping a harmonious and clean environment, as well as enhancing of a balanced development in our village, town, country; - enhance to self-initiative and civic participation in decision making and public life. Children, youngsters and 4-H leaders are gathered together annual events like conferences, sports games, summer camps and project forums in autumn. Also the Latvian 4-H organizes regular seminars on entrepreneurship opportunities in rural regions and on decision making processes. Latvian 4-H has a lot of local volunteers that give a fundamental input for the organisation of events for 4-H’ers. Latvian 4-H also has a wide experience internationally. The members of Džūkste 4-H club have participated in Erasmus+ mobility programmes, for instance, in youth exchanges and volunteering. They have also been active in IFYE (International 4-H Youth Exchange) exchange programmes. Džūkste 4-H club has both sent and received guests in hosting families.
