Chirojeugd Vlaanderen vzw

With more than 107 000 members Chiro is the biggest youth movement in Flanders, the Dutch speaking region of Belgium. Our aim is to bring children and young people together in their free time and to let them play together. On Sunday (in some groups on Saturday) children and youngsters come together in their local group, starting at the age of 6. They play games and do activities in age groups. We are a voluntary movement and youth-led. Every local group is managed by a team of local youth leaders, the average age of the leaders is 17 - 25. Also in our regional and national structures the youth leaders decide on the direction of our organisation. As national office of Chiro we offer support, training and a framework for our local groups and local leaders and members. We have a strong vision on playing, which is the foundation of our work. Every year we work with a different year theme, to raise awareness both among our members as in society at large. Our Chiro roots are Christian based, but every local group has its own traditions. As Chiro we welcome all children and youngsters, regardless of their social or cultural background.
