About Organization
Francophonia is above all the articulation of four convictions where education meets innovation and interculturality and where solidarity gives meaning to who we are and to the values we promote. Francophonia operates in the spirit of the social and solidarity economy. We are also recently members of the European network "Education and Health Network" (Réseau Education et Santé) which brings together the major players in education and European mutualism. In 2019, we made more than 35% of our turnover available to the general interest via free training scholarships for teachers. Our flagship programme, Universités d’été de Francophonia, is a French teacher training course that welcomes over 70 nationalities... But we don't stop there: art and gastronomy also have a place in Nice, in the French Riviera, during the summer when delegations of French teachers come to improve their skills and share their culture often accompanied by chefs and artists from their own countries. Solidarity is important to us, and that is why almost half of the participants of our teacher training course sessions received scholarships to do so. Francophonia is also a huge online community (around 1.2 millions of fans worldwide) that has the goal to promote the French language and to connect cultures via the French language. It is for us a way of communicating our values and European values and could be a beautiful opportunity for the development of this programme. Set up and with strong ties to Nice, in the south of France, Francophonia benefits from a network of partners and local and regional public and private organisations. Francophonia aims to gather people around projects animated by simple yet important values like cooperation, openness, and liberty. In addition to French teachers, Francophonia wishes to share its values with young people who will be the next representatives of the French language and train hundreds of young French learners every year. To support this part of our activity, we are starting in August 2020 a new programme entitled "European Citizenship and French Language" (Citoyenneté Européenne et Langue Française): 27 countries, 27 cultures and 27 000 scholarships will be offered by Francophonia with the desire to promote the European ideal with the french language as a hyphen. In September, the programme "the Engaged Classes" (les classes engagées) will offer European students from different countries the opportunity to create a common project for the general interest. Francophonia will offer one to three terms of French and project management online courses before a meeting in Nice at the end of the project. This will be an opportunity to present their achievement and the goal will be to bring together interculturality, solidarity and learning French in Nice.
