About Organization
Matadero Lab is an alive space where arts, science, sport and education meet. Matadero Lab Toledo is a cultural and social organization, where teachers, culture managers, artists and other professionals in the field of culture, which main objective is to offer to Toledo city and its youngsters a new cultural, alternative and alive space. The theatre building MATADERO, owned by the secondary school SEFARAD, is the meeting point where all the cultural, sportive, social and leisure interests meet, giving an answer to a multi discipline philosophy of open participation and collaboration, with three unrenounceable dimensions: ● Pedagogical dimension: Connection between the curricular contents in the educational centers and the cultural project of the organization, looking for a synergistic feedback and providing to the schools new educational resources which complement the students learning and training. ● Social-cultural dimension: Develop and manage a cultural program open to all collectives, artists, schools, groups... consolidated and stable of an annual nature where all forms of artistic and social expression have a place. ● Artistic dimension: paying attention to all artistic process of local artists contributing to the reflection and support over present and future art. Matadero Lab Toledo is developed around a model of institutional, public and private cooperation, promoting the society participation in the project, and looking for plurality, independence and viability. The main objective of Matadero Lab is to cover a social, cultural and leisure need in Toledo, Castilla La Mancha capital, cultural heritage and symbol of intercultural dialog around the world: a meeting point of cultural movements and social and cultural expressions, addressed to, not just the regional populations and youngsters, but giving an answer that responds to the cosmopolitan and universal character that has historically characterized the city of Toledo. An space called to become a referent, a modern initiative, educational, innovative and global, in order to attract the most important names in culture, science and other disciplines and the emerging ones, to the new voices revitalizing the patrimonial and cultural panorama of the historical center.
