FUNDACIÓN BARUCA

The Baruca Foundation was founded in 2010. It is a non-profit organization whose members are the Ramón Rey Ardid Foundation, together with the Bielsa City Council and the Sobrarbe Region, and which manages the Casarón Baruca. Fundación Baruca arises from the will of the founding social entities to provide people with reduced mobility with leisure services and leisure and free time activities in natural environments. For the team working on the project, Baruca is the exciting union of dreams, experiences, efforts and resources to improve the life of people with disabilities. Both leisure and tourism are considered factors of social integration, assuming an innovative social right. Caserón Baruca is an equipment composed of ten apartments and two common rooms, Barucoteca and Baruca Zen, a building accessible for people with reduced mobility. Caserón Baruca is located in Bielsa, which is a municipality in the Region of Sobrarbe, in the province of Huesca, Spain. With almost five hundred inhabitants, it is located in the heart of the Pyrenees. TARGET GROUPS Located in a privileged environment in the Aragonese Pyrenees it is addressed to all people who want to know the Sobrarbe Region and especially those who have problems for finding normalized leisure activities and free time due to the lack of areas adapted to their possibilities. Baruca tries that people with special needs who want to perform these activities have no obstacles and can participate in conditions of equality. That is why we make a clear commitment to leisure and accessible tourism. In Spain around 2,300,000 people (69,649 in Aragón) are disadvantaged due to personal deficit and environmental obstacles. We must consider these people as potential users and we must bear in mind that they do not used to travel alone. A study carried out by the ONCE Foundation indicates that only 4% do so; that 30% of people with disabilities travel with their partners, another 30% with their entire family, 21% with friends without disabilities, 15% with friends with disabilities and the rest with parents, siblings or children. It should be noted that since the beginning, Caserón Baruca has been a meeting point for the youngest population, users and volunteers who come to Baruca for outdoor activities, for meetings of volunteers (in many occasions organized by the Rey Ardid Foundation ) or simply to enjoy the natural environment of the Sobrarbe area. OBJECTIVES Provide accommodation for holidays and leisure and free time activities in normalized settings for people with disabilities, boosting the range of tourism services in the area and improving the socio-economic situation of the population through access to quality tourism services and job creation of an area considered as a rural area to revitalize. The development of an inclusive leisure model committed to putting strength and emphasis on the key points: feeling, thinking and doing from and for all people. In addition, other main objective is to create sustainable, inclusive and responsible development in the rural tourism destinations of the Region, combining coexistence, heritage and human rights. Fundación Baruca se constituyó en el año 2010. Es una entidad sin ánimo de lucro que en cuyo patronato participan la Fundación Ramón Rey Ardid junto con el Ayuntamiento de Bielsa y la Comarca de Sobrarbe y que gestiona el Caserón Baruca. Fundación Baruca surge de la voluntad de las entidades sociales fundadoras de proporcionar a las personas con movilidad reducida servicios vacacionales y actividades de ocio y tiempo libre en entornos naturales. Para el equipo que trabaja en el proyecto, Baruca es la unión ilusionante de sueños, experiencias, esfuerzos y recursos para mejorar la vida de personas con discapacidad.
