Cirkus Tvaers is a youth- and childrens circus based in Aarhus, Denmark, in an area where it is largely immigrants and refugees. 80 % of our members are children of another ethnic background than Danish. We welcome children from the age of 10 years and up. We are open everyday…The children can walk in of the street and be a part of our everyday activites. Cirkus Tvaers has existed for 30 years and we work with circus as a pedagogic tool for integration, personal growth and a way to learn skills – both socially and personally. Circus Tvaers is a socio-culturel project – and we do social circus. Which means we focus on helping the youth to become somebody, before they have to become something. It is free to join and open to everyone, as long as they respect the rules of the place and respect each other. We teach various circus diciplines on many different levels, we make and perform shows and do workshops in and out of the circus. Cirkus Tvaers is a big circus family where people can come together no matter their age, background, religion , colour or political opinion. We cherish cooperation, inclusion, tolerance and acceptance and find a place for everyone. Cirkus Tvaers is supported by the municipality of Aarhus.
