CAMARA MUNICIPAL DE OBIDOS

The Municipality of Óbidos is a territory on the west coast of Portugal and is an organization that has the function of public administration, in all aspects of the lives of the citizens who inhabit it. It has the responsibility to define development strategies, growth plans and action projects in all the different areas in order to provide the best services to its citizens, in a future of unity, equality, justice, creativity and training. As the Municipality of Óbidos is a very old municipality, it is extremely important to implement youth policies that help young people to have an excellent training, as well as attract other young people to the municipality. The youth field should not be just an objective or a random strategic line, but an essential mission for all local governments. The future of Óbidos, in the country, will reflect how we worked in this area, how we empower new talents, how we prepare the future. The guidelines always go through the defense and materialization of the concepts of youth emancipation and participation in society. In addition, it involves promoting healthy lifestyle habits, youth entrepreneurship, and an increase in social and territorial cohesion policies. Concepts such as creativity, citizenship, communication, knowledge and training, became part of and transversal to all the projects, programs and services created and to be created within the scope of the youth of this municipality. The Youth Service of the Municipality of Óbidos has the following mission: • Support and ensure the design and implementation of programs, projects and initiatives, ensuring the implementation of actions related to the objectives inherent to Youth, particularly in areas related to culture, volunteering, international cooperation, environment, education, inclusion, employment, participation and health ; • Promote activities that develop the young people's non-formal skills and develop their spirit of citizenship; • Promote the insertion of young people in active life; • Conduct studies to characterize the municipality's youth population, in the most diverse areas: work, education / training, leisure, health, housing, among others; • Promote actions in the area of entrepreneurship; • Characterize and keep updated the register of youth associations in the municipality; • Propose and execute partnerships with entities dedicated to youth; • Support and encourage youth associations; • Developing their own projects or in partnership with formal or informal youth organizations and with entities aimed at young people, encouraging cooperation between youth associations, sports organizations, schools, companies and civil society in general; • Support the management and operation of municipal facilities for youth; Regular activities: Leisure time occupation program taking place during school holidays for young people in the municipality of Óbidos, with activities that simultaneously contribute to their personal and civic training and, equally, represent an asset for the community where they operate. It is a program that seeks, above all, to provide young people with more diverse skills and experiences. ATIVA-TE program aimed at young entrepreneurship through consultancy, project monitoring and training, taking into account the resources already existing at Espaço Ó, namely the work that has been developed; Theater Academy - Extend the Anatomy of Identity program to young people in the municipality who have a taste for theater; International Youth Exchange - Literature and convergences; Bringing the historic center of Óbidos to life with the creation of a field of learning and non-formal education. A space for sharing and learning among young people will be created, centered on literature and the convergence (s) it creates (or can create) with everyday life and other arts.
