About Organization
The LSB SportService Brandenburg gGmbH was founded in August 2004 as a 100% subsidiary of the Sports Youth Brandenburg (Brandenburgische Sportjugend). As a non-profit organization, the LSB SportService Brandenburg gGmbH has since then established itself as a supervisor and top management of 10 best practice model facilities – kindergartens and after school care centers - in the federal state of Brandenburg. In its supervised nurseries, kindergartens and after school care centers the organisation implements the framework concept of a "health and movement oriented" institutions, which was developed for this purpose by the Brandenburgische Sportjugend in co-operation with the University of Potsdam. In this way the LSB SportService Brandenburg gGmbH uses the expertise and competencies of the largest youth organization in the federal state of Brandenburg, Brandenburgische Sportjugend, and fulfils its task of acquisition of daycare and after school care centers and profiling them into the movement oriented institutions. The LSB SportService Brandenburg gGmbH with its 10 facilities in the pre-primary and primary education field in Potsdam, Brandenburg an der Havel and Falkensee covers children in several age categories: 1) Nursery children between age of 1–3 years 2) Kindergarten children between age of 3–6 years (until school entry) 3) After school care center children between age of 5–12 years The total number of children in 10 childcare facilities to the date 31.12.2019 was 1225 children. Working concept In view of increasing cognitive and psychological deficits in the children, the focus of the pedagogical concept is movement, which is understood as the motor of development and expression of children's joy of life. It is generally understood that potentials of an optimal development of children (age from 1-6 and 5-12 years) into adolescents is being set early in the childhood. The concept is intended to fight motorial and development deficits at the early child stage. The special feature here is that the concept is based on the principles of elementary education of the federal state of Brandenburg (“Principles of elementary education” by L. Pesch) in combination with the learning content in the 6 areas of significance for children development: 1) "Body, movement, health" - promotion of motoric performance, healthy nutrition and exercise methods, regular physiological and psychological development 2) "Language, communication and writing culture" - promotion of brain hemisphere networking, promotion of cognitive learning processes, structuring of the brain 3) "Mathematics and science" - understanding quantities and numbers, promotion of concentration, dealing with natural phenomena 4) "Music and rhythm” - group gymnastic exercises, doing game songs, singing and listening to song texts, coordination of timing perception, and rhythmics of movements 5) "Presentation and design" - body coordination and drawing movements, trained perception as the motivation for interest in work with materials 6) “Social interaction” - movement safety, higher frustration tolerance and emotional stability, understanding norms, rules and values For this reason, the "on the move" education and healthy lifestyle transfered to the above mentioned educational fields has the highest priority as a pedagogical basic principle, which is practiced in the LSB SportService Brandenburg gGmbH child care institutions through the slogan ‘Always on the move’. The focus here is on the implementation of the fun factor, which can be seen as an important prerequisite for children movement.
