“Društvo Zelena centrala” (Green Central) is an independent non-profit association of individuals who foster artistic production, youth work, creative informal education and interdisciplinary communitarian actions on the fields of sustainable development, environmental and social justice: biodynamical agriculture, social ecology, arts, hand craft, natural construction, and fair trade. We focus on the active preservation and promotion of the local natural and cultural heritage of Slovene rural areas, especially the biodiversity, landscape architecture, micro farming, storytelling, herbal medicine, and traditional house building with clay. Our main mission is to combine the local heritage with contemporary approaches and artistic research, based on originality, innovation, modern know-how, and creativity. “Društvo Zelena centrala” operates on 4 hectares of ecological property in Jurovski Dol in Slovenske gorice (North-East Slovenia) with gardens, fields, orchards, vineyards, and a forest. These 4 hectares serve as a platform for all sorts of alternative and informal education, as a center of creative social integration, inter-generational collaboration and a non-stop knowledge exchange. We shaped the property into a permanent communitarian space of public good that constantly hosts communitarian events, actions and projects. We provide professionally managed creative workshops of active learning indoor and outdoor – biodynamical agriculture and food self-sufficiency, sustainable management of natural resources in everyday life, orchard (four-seasons-biodynamical maintenance of fruit trees, old varieties of fruit trees, biodiversity, orchard as living ecosystem and home to insects and pollinators), grapes and wine production (four-seasons-biodynamical maintenance of vine plants, vineyard as living ecosystem), beekeeping, herbal polygon (sports, arts and herbal medicine), creative workshops of natural construction with clay, handcraft workshops with wood, interior design, restoration, local heritage, walking paths and didactic walks, storytelling, active citizenship, and creative writing. We like to network with other people and organisation and invest a lot of our time in social inclusion, civil engagement and solidarity actions. We like to live in a diverse, active and friendly community.
