About Organization
Since 2012, our association "Querbeet e.V." have been designing open spaces in the east of Leipzig and transforming them into community gardens. One of the most important aim of our project is to bring people together through gardening and handcraft activities, film festivals, kindergarten projects or workshops related to ecology, diversity, nutrition and environmental protection. Querbeet Leipzig e.V. is an non-governmental and non-profit organisation. Querbeet e.V. launched in September 2019 an urban and collective gardening-project: "Wirrwuchs". Located in the eastern part of the city (Paunsdorf), its goal is to develop an inclusive, eco-friendly, intercultural and intergenerational garden in cooperation with the neighbourhood. The garden can be used free of charge and without membership. Everyone can take part in the free activities of the project with no regard on income, age, gender, level of education and origin. Encouraging and promoting the values of tolerance and solidarity, the community garden Wirrwuchs offers the habitants the possibility to try out and discover the various aspects of eco-friendly gardening. With its 1.400m², Wirrwuchs garden aims to be a safe space for all, regardless of people’s background, socio-economic origins or physical and health condition.
