The demographic context of the Bragança district is one of the most challenging in the country for youth intervention. In particular, the levels of education indexes as a geographic dispersion, the high levels of age association levels, associated with the low tradition of youth movements, of volunteers, of initiatives such as the Red Cross Youth or the elementary levels of youth association, of voluntary movements, make initiatives such as the Red Cross Youth as platforms for youth leadership in the face of current social challenges. It's not just isolation or ageing that worries the young. Other challenges, such as gender identity, migration, mental health or climate change, are on the youth’s agenda in Bragança, closely related to the national plans for Youth, as well as the voluntary strategies of the Portuguese Red Cross youth. Local youth intervention is based on support for the elderly, with cognitive and/or physical disabilities; care or informal support; welcoming the LGBTIQ+ population in a situation of greater social and economic vulnerability; reception, such as the language of integration, integration needs, such as social and work learning. It was also considered the need to improve the monitoring of users of the mental health forum of the psychiatric unit, both in the context of internal home health and finally to develop strategies to mitigate climate change, as well as interventions that promote sustainable use of endogenous resources.
