About Organization
L'Arbre qui Pousse is an ecovillage and a rural "third place" ("tiers lieu") located in Ottignies (30mn south of Brussels), in an 18th century farm. It's a whole ecosystem composed of different structures & actors: • A foundation (Ecotones) which owns the land & the buildings. • A non-profit organisation (L'Arbre Qui Pousse asbl), which manages the collective project & facilitates the collaboration between the different actors. • 15 entrepreneurs based on the farm & surrounding land: a bakery, a bicycle repair shop, a Montessori school, a winemaker, an organic gardener, a plant & tree nursery, an herbalist, a residential campus for courses & retreats, etc. • A co-working space where several NGOs are based • A large barn where conferences & events are held • 30 residents who live on the farm (and are involved in various working groups) All these actors are experimenting with ways of living and working that care for the earth and people. L'Arbre qui Pousse embodies a different model & narrative for our societies and actively weaves connections to inspire others. Its target groups are: • Citizens of the area • Municipalities and other public institutions • Business leaders • Academics and universities • Young people (through associations) and students (through schools) • Founders of other ecovillages & third places • Activists and other NGOs
