About Organization
The Youth Island (Ungdomsøen) was founded in 2019 to empower young people (aged 15-30) in Denmark. Our vision is to be a platform and lighthouse for important social movements of the next generations. Serving as a civic engagement hub for active engagement and societal responsibility for young people, it attracts 25.000+ visitors annually and hosts several volunteer groups and activities: > Volunteer Groups: Young volunteers engage in various causes, promoting mental health, environmental sustainability, and democratic development. We have experience with dedicated young volunteers living on the island for shorter or longer periods of time. We see great potentials qualifying and scaling this opportunity as part of the ESC volunteer project as a repeating set up offered to both Danish and international volunteers. > Mentoring Initiative: Supporting youth from social housing projects, this initiative enhances inclusivity and skills development. > Collaborations: Fostering innovation, and cross-cultural understanding, we collaborate with a wide range of institutions and organisations on both national and international levels. In summary, the Youth Island is a vibrant platform fostering civic engagement, social entrepreneurship, and empowerment among Danish youth - and a vision for broader international collaboration.
