Fondazione Casa Serena ETS is a non-profit organisation based in Montichiari, Lombardy, with a long-standing tradition in the field of child and family support. Founded in 1793 by Rev. Don Paolo Vaschini as a charitable orphanage for girls, the organisation evolved over time to meet changing social needs. Since the 1970s, it has shifted from its original mission to a modern, community-oriented approach while maintaining its core values of care, education, and social solidarity. In 2003, it became a Fondazione di Partecipazione and, in 2011, moved to a new facility designed to better serve local families and children. Today, Casa Serena plays an active role in the regional social and educational system. It provides services such as a youth centre (CAG) for children aged 6–14 and a summer programme for children aged 6–11, in agreement with the Municipality of Montichiari. It also supports early childhood and parenting through 0–3-year-old family-focused projects in collaboration with the Centro Famiglia. The Foundation cooperates with local schools, social services, volunteer associations, the public library, and the local health consultancy centre (ASST del Garda), fostering a network of trust and shared learning. By hosting ESC volunteers, Casa Serena seeks to promote intercultural dialogue, active citizenship, and inclusive community engagement.
