The Deaconess Foundation (hereafter “DF”) is a non-profit organization with its headquarters in Helsinki and operations in municipalities throughout Finland and in 8 other countries. Since 1867, DF has worked with vulnerable populations at risk of social exclusion. DF is a social enterprise and all profits from its business operations are directed to its not-for-profit activities. DF specializes in providing services and support for groups in marginalized positions in society that need special support. Target groups of DF’s work include vulnerable youth, people with disabilities, people with substance use disorders, refugees, asylum seekers, undocumented people and mobile people, among others. The goal of Deaconess Foundation is “A life of dignity for all”. Its activities are guided by a set of core values: human dignity, neighbourly love and responsibility.
