About Organization
Redon is a small town with a population of 10,000. It lies at the heart of the ‘Pays de Vilaine’, a rural region with a strong cultural identity, featuring hilly landscapes and marshes, ideal for outdoor activities. It is located in Southern Brittany, around 60 km from Rennes, Vannes, Nantes and the sea, at the confluence of 2 rivers. It has a TGV station, a port and an old quarter built around an ancient abbey. The population is predominantly rural and working class. The ‘Pays de Redon’ has a strong cultural vibrancy, centred around Breton culture. Our organisation is a municipality. It is organised around 29 elected members, including 1 mayor and 8 deputy mayors. The municipality is divided into 6 departments: general management, culture and heritage, finance, technical services, education and citizenship, social action. The municipality has around 240 employees. The department that would like to welcome a volunteer is the children and young people department, coordinated by the education and citizenship department. The department has 11 employees: mediators, activity leaders, educators and administrative staff. We run a leisure centre for children aged 3-12. In the youth section, we offer activities for young people aged 14-25, all year round through a specific programme and informal activities in the evenings and during the holidays. Around 50 young people take part in our holiday activities.
