About Organization
The Foundation Liepāja 2027 is the main organisation responsible for implementing the European Capital of Culture (ECoC) title in Liepāja, Latvia, in 2027. The foundation was officially registered in 2023 and has since begun preparatory and introductory activities for the title year. While the Foundation's primary focus as the ECoC implementing body is the cultural sector, the Liepāja 2027 cultural program extends far beyond the cultural sphere. We aim to strengthen communities, empower youth, address environmental issues and build the capacity of local NGOs and entrepreneurs in the cultural, educational and creative fields. Although the ECoC title is not a long-term project, together with our partner organisations, we look forward to its legacy, including new annual events, educational programs and creative platforms that will continue beyond 2027. The target audience for Liepāja 2027 is very diverse, as the aim of the ECoC title is to engage as wide an audience as possible, regardless of age, gender, education, or other indicators. Therefore, each of our events is designed for specific audiences.
