The Tutrakan Tourism Development Association is a non-profit organisation founded in 2013 and based in Tutrakan, a small town in northern Bulgaria, located in a rural and border region along the Danube River, close to the Romanian border. Our organisation works at the intersection of youth work, non-formal education, environmental protection and community development. We focus particularly on engaging young people from rural and remote areas, where access to opportunities, international programmes and educational resources is limited. Our main areas of activity include youth work and civic education, environmental awareness and climate-related topics, biodiversity protection, nature-based learning and sustainable, nature-friendly tourism. We regularly organise trainings, workshops and learning activities for young people, combining non-formal education, experiential learning, outdoor activities and gamified approaches. Many of our activities address European values, democratic participation, media literacy, inclusion and empowerment of young people with fewer opportunities. Although our organisation has not yet implemented an Erasmus+ project as an applicant, our team members have extensive experience as youth workers, trainers and facilitators in international and local projects, including Erasmus+ activities, environmental initiatives and youth engagement programmes. We have successfully implemented numerous projects funded by national and international donors and have strong experience in working with local communities, schools, NGOs and public institutions.
