Regional Youth Info Centre Rijeka -UMKI

Regional Youth Info Centre has been functioning since its beginning in 1998., as a self sustainable organisation, based on the model of social entrerpreneurship. This means that the beneficiaries of the different programmes (for which the fee is paid), partly finance the functioning of the organisation while the other part is used for donations to institutions and organisations working with youth and people with special needs. Throughout its work by now, “Step Ahead” managed to raise funds and materials up to the amount of over 500 000 kuna that were donated to previously mentioned beneficiaries. Regular activities of the organisation in the local community: • Digitalisation of the Rijeka main kindergarten (with Microsoft Croatia) • The local administration reform project – Primorsko-Goranska County and the city of Bakar with USAID and the Urban Institute • [MU:V] - Mali uče velike (“the little teach the big“ - Grad Rijeka, Urban Institute i USAID (won the Croatian Government award and the award of the national foundation for civil society development) • Creating platform for the establishment of the local community foundation • Charter on the cooperation between the city of Rijeka and the NGO sector • 4 futsal leagues (with the Croatian Football Federation, the Croatian Olympic Committee and the City of Rijeka) • The “Stop Racism in football” project (with the EU, UEFA and FARE) • Activities within The “All Different, All Equal” campaign by the Council of Europe” • Scholarship programme for youth education in IT (with Microsoft and the Croatian Association for technical culture) • Scholarship programme for youth education in the field of design • Regional youth information centre • Association of youth info centres in Croatia (member and co-founder) • NGO database for the Republic of Croatia (creator) • “Skontica” youth discounts and discount portal (with the Croatian chambers of commerce and entrepreneurship) • “ECDL” test centre (European Computer Driving Licence) (with the Croatian Information Technology Society, i2010 and ECDL Foundation) • Coordination of the Rijeka municipality youth policy creation process MEMBERSHIPS: • Croatian Youth Network • ERYICA • European Youth Forum (indirect, through the Croatian Youth Network) • Microsoft partners
