FAJUDIS

FAJUDIS, Federation of Youth Associations of the District of Santarém, with headquarters in Constância, is an non-governmental organization whose mission is to support and develop youth associations in the district of Santarém, promoting actions that mobilize young people and associations for an entrepreneurial attitude about associative cause. FAJUDIS provides and organizes several support services to help the associations and youth. Provides a resource centre. Manages training sections. Supports the training of associations. At the same time, the FAJUDIS performs studies and participate in international, national and local projects, in the areas of gender equality, solidarity, voluntary, international cooperation, civic participation, active citizenship, democracy , among others. Therefore, also promote, in above areas, initiatives and activities that encourage and stimulate youth in associations. Besides these experiences, the Federation is in regular with different international, national and local organizations. We emphasize the articulation and partnership developed with: Animation School in Madrid; the Association of Sargantana in Confrac; the ANIMAR – Portuguese Association for Local Development; the Europe Direct Centre; IPDJ – Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth; FNAJ – National Federation of Youth Associations; the Chã Matias Association in Cape Verde; the Association Alkawtar in Marrakech and the Project Pro’Carso in Serra D´aire e Candeeiros, Portugal. In this sense, and through this initiative we intend to continue the work we have been developing in youth, association, participation and active citizenship, promoting skills development and proactive attitudes that stimulate creativity, innovation and youth entrepreneurship. Our principles: 1- Voluntary and Open Membership 2- Democratic Member Control 3- Member´s Economic Participation 4- Autonomy and Independence 5- Education, Training and Information 6- Cooperation Among Organizations 7- Concern For Community We aim to live by this principles in a daily basis with our co-workers, community and volunteers. We believe that it’s through this model of organization we can better pursuit our personal and community objectives/goals. Some of us had previous experiences as volunteers in different local organizations. One of the members has courses related to international volunteer service organized by ISU – Instituto de Solidariedade Universitaria. In this way, we give great value to this form of learning opportunity and cultural experience. We believe volunteers will help us to develop our social and cultural activity by imputing their own experiences but at the same time learning and improving their own competences. We are open to working with people with interests in Social Change and Social Projects, Youth, Youth Employment, Sustainable Agriculture (Organic and Permaculture), Arts and Cultural Activities.
