Jongerenwerking Den Tube

Den Tube is a non-profit organisation established in 1988 on a boat, yes you read it good, ON A BOAT! Our organisation is based in Leuven, a cosy town with a lot of diversity. Because our organisation has been around for a long time, we have a very large network with many different local partners. We are a youth organisation that is open to young people from 12 to 30 years old. We focus on all young people with specific attention for young people in social vulnerability. A lot of our youngsters have a background of fleeing their home-country, poverty, unemployment etc. We reach a multicultural group (22 nationalities). Our organisation is part of the community-work organisation of Leuven “’t Lampeke”. Due to the intensive cooperation between the four sub-activities of community work “'t Lampeke”, a support and follow-up process with children, young people and adults is possible. We work based on the following objectives: 1) Organizing an open meeting space several days/week 2) To support and cooperate with our network of youth-organizations and partners 3) Organize activities tailored to the youngsters, preferably from within the motivation of youngsters 4) Substantive project work based on strengthening the voice of our youngsters 5) Individual support Because our youngsters are very interested in going across their borders and meeting other youngsters, we have done youth exchanges with other youth organisations in France, Barcelona and Latvia the last couple of years. This was a cooperation with European partner organizations, not within the Erasmus+ program. By doing these youth exchanges we already have experience in using non-formal educational methods. We are very excited about making and giving new oppurtinities for our youngsters so they can engage and develop their social skills.
