Kichini Gardeners is an initiative that envisions a region where young people highly value, understand and appreciate conservation of their environment to benefit both the present and future generations, through promoting sustainable gardening for healthy diversity diets in small spaces among school children and communities. Kichini Gardeners works around 3 areas: Nutritious diversity diets, Biodiversity Loss and Climate Action using Gardening and Leadership. Kichini Gardeners are children who practice organic gardening as they connect to nature and show their contribution towards mother nature through their home or school gardens. The intiative works with children from the age of 5 to 16years and youth to train young leaders who lead on conservation and sustainable practices in food production thus building stewards for nature. The intiative has a manual guide with the following activities: 1. Garden set ups and Soil preparation 2. Watering of plants and Pests free gardens 3. Food and our bodies 4. Garbage for gardens and Life in gardens 5. Gardening for pocket and Communicating Artists The activities that set out young minds for adventure and interacting with Nature. Besides gardening, children are exposed to leadership skills at an early age through role plays, team players and leaders, demonstration and many more.
