National Youth Congress of Albania

National Youth Congress (NYC) is a youth umbrella organization with the aim of exchanging information, highlighting youth issues, lobbying and advocating for solving these issues and the provision of capacity building for all entities involved in the network. National Youth Congress brings together various organizations from national and regional levels, rural and urban areas, student organizations, branches of international organizations, youth political forums and other types of associations. The Congress represents the interests of young people in Albania, regardless of their socio-economic position, gender, race, ethnic and cultural background, political and religious beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other form of difference. The Mission of the National Youth Congress is to mobilize youth organizations and to strengthen the role of youth in society. Young people across Albania will have a common voice to advocate and lobby on issues that affect them. Our Goals -A better regulated system of formal and non-formal education for young people. -Stronger youth voice, participation, and impact in political and decision-making processes. -Functional public spaces for young people and enabling environment for sports and recreation. -Social Security and equal opportunities for young people. -Solidarity and joint initiatives with young people beyond borders. TOPICS that NYC works on: -Volunteering in Albania -Youth employment -Formal & informal education -European dimension and youth perspective -Media access and communication -Advocacy and capacity building for youth structures -Health and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic -Social inclusion and youth activism -Environment and sustainability -Regional cooperation and mobility opportunities Tirana European Youth Capital One of the remarkable achievements of 2019 is the endorsement with the title Tirana Youth Capital2022, given by European Youth Forum, that NYC jointly with Municipality of Tirana insured. "European Youth Capital" is a title given by the European Youth Forum (EYF), created to empower young people, foster youth participation in society and strengthen European identity. The joint work of the National Youth Congress and the Municipality of Tirana was praised for its focus on youth and the program that aims to bring a youth perspective in all aspects of city life, but not only, the vibration of Tirana as a representative city with youngsters from all over the country, consequently expands the affiliation of the title and gives it a national character. The work of Tirana EYC is divided in 8 main programs, aiming to create an inclusive platform for all youth issues and create new opportunities for youngsters in Albania. These programs are: Youth creates Economy and Innovation, Youth Develops Capacity, Youth are Europeans, Youth Spaces, Youth Eco-Health, Youth creates Diversity, Youth Participates and Youth creates Culture. More than 1000 events and 5000 youngsters from Western Balkans and EU countries will come and visit Tirana throughout 2022.
