Bambini nel deserto

Bambini nel Deserto ETS is a humanitarian organization founded in Modena in 2000 with the mission of improving the living conditions of children and vulnerable communities wherever a “desert” exists – not only of sand or stones, but also of opportunities, rights, and the future. Over the past two decades, the organization has carried out more than 550 projects across 19 African countries, often in contexts marked by poverty, political instability, and resource scarcity. Its main areas of intervention include access to water and hygiene, education and childhood, literacy, healthcare, food security, economic autonomy, and climate change adaptation. Each initiative is designed to be sustainable, transparent, and impactful, working in close collaboration with local communities and institutions. Alongside its international cooperation activities, Bambini nel Deserto is also committed to action at the local level in Modena and across Italy. The organization promotes awareness campaigns and educational projects focused on human rights, global citizenship, and intercultural dialogue. Particular attention is given to initiatives that challenge stereotypes about migrants, foster social inclusion, and build bridges between different communities. These activities complement the NGO’s international work, reinforcing a holistic approach that connects local awareness with global responsibility. The organization operates under a structured governance model that ensures accountability and transparency. A Board of Directors defines strategies and oversees activities, while a Supervisory Body ensures compliance with financial and operational regulations. At least 75% of resources are consistently allocated directly to projects, demonstrating a strong commitment to efficiency and donor trust. With more than 20 years of field experience, Bambini nel Deserto ETS continues to be a reference point in international cooperation and civic engagement, combining concrete humanitarian interventions abroad with education, advocacy, and awareness at home. Its work contributes to building a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future for new generations.
