MTÜ Väärinduskeskus is a community-based non-profit organisation in Estonia working at the intersection of circular economy, textile upcycling, craft, and non-formal adult education. The organisation focuses on material valorisation, sustainability, and social inclusion through hands-on, practice-based learning. Väärinduskeskus operates as an open learning and experimentation hub where participants engage in workshops, pilot activities, and community-based projects. Our work is grounded in learning-by-doing methodologies, combining traditional craft knowledge with contemporary sustainability practices and innovative educational approaches. We place strong emphasis on ecological awareness, local knowledge, and non-extractive cultural models. The organisation has experience working with adult learners, seniors, and intergenerational groups, as well as cooperating with small rural and lower secondary schools. Activities are designed to be inclusive and accessible, supporting learners with diverse backgrounds and learning needs. We regularly integrate non-formal and informal learning methods, community engagement, and reflective practice. Our core areas of expertise include textile reuse and upcycling, material research, green skills development, community engagement, and participatory workshop facilitation. MTÜ Väärinduskeskus contributes to project design, content development, piloting, evaluation, and dissemination, bringing a strong grassroots and real-life implementation perspective.
