The Municipality of Bellano governs this beautiful town located on Lake Como. Its prime location on the lake, just a stone’s throw from the mountains, makes it the perfect tourist destination. In recent years, the current municipal administration has worked hard to achieve this, implementing numerous strategies aimed at increasing tourist traffic, which has had significant economic benefits. Thanks to revenue from the tourism sector, the administration has been able to fund services for residents, promote events, and invest in education and safety. The main attraction that has driven the town’s tourism development is the Orrido di Bellano: a spectacular canyon carved by the waters of the Pioverna stream, which over the centuries has formed narrow passages in the rock, striking caves, caverns, and waterfalls. Thousands of tourists from all over Italy and the rest of the world visit this natural wonder every year. In the wake of the Orrido’s success, the idea for BAC (Bellano Arte e Cultura) was born—a “distributed” museum project that encompasses cultural sites such as museums, churches, monuments, exhibition spaces, and green areas. In addition to culture and art, great emphasis is also placed on music in all its forms: numerous singing events, music competitions, and related concerts and opera performances are organized throughout the year. Thanks to its significant contributions to the cultural sphere and the fact that the town is the birthplace of numerous writers, photographers, actors, painters, and sculptors, Bellano has earned the title of “Town of Artists.” The Municipality of Bellano has been awarded important quality labels and certifications, thanks to its commitment to enhancing the local area, protecting the environment, and promoting slow and sustainable tourism. The Municipality of Bellano’s efforts are focused on the future and on young people, yet always with strong roots in the past and in the town’s traditions; foremost among these is the “Pesa Vegia,” a historical reenactment event that celebrated its 420th anniversary in 2026. Another cornerstone of the municipality’s activities is the promotion of sports and collaboration with local sports associations, including those focused on sailing, cycling, hiking, and rowing. We are seeking partners for a twinning project who share similar characteristics and interests: a lakeside/mountain setting, the presence of tourist attractions and museums, the organization of events aimed at promoting the region and its culture, historical reenactments, the organization of musical events, the promotion of sports, and a focus on sustainable and responsible tourism.
