Baglum Sports Club, founded in 1963, is a multi-disciplinary and inclusive sports organization operating in the Baglum area of Kecioren district in Ankara. Despite being located in a geographically distant and disadvantaged area compared to the district center, our club continues its activities with the aim of promoting grassroots participation in sports, increasing access to sports for disadvantaged groups, and encouraging lifelong participation in physical activity. Our club currently offers approximately 23 different sports disciplines and provides services to around 1,300 athletes. Some of these athletes are individuals with disabilities. A total of 38 female and male coaches work at the club, adopting a holistic approach that supports the athletes’ sporting, physical, psychological, and social development. Regular training programs are implemented for different age groups and skill levels, providing children, young people, and adults with structured and safe sports education. During training sessions, athletes’ technical, physical, and psychological development is addressed as a whole. Our club offers suitable sports disciplines and programs for Paralympic athletes, athletes with hearing impairments, and athletes with intellectual disabilities, while prioritizing the role of sport in social inclusion and empowerment. The active participation of athletes with disabilities in both sporting activities and social life is strongly supported. Due to our location in a disadvantaged area, we carry out initiatives aimed at reducing economic and physical barriers to access. Participation in sports is increased through cooperation with schools, local authorities, and community-based organizations.
