Croatian Red Cross - City Branch Zupanja

The Croatian Red Cross – City Branch Zupanja (CRC – CB Zupanja) is an association whose purpose is to promote humanitarian goals and implementation of actions of general use, and which operates on the basis of the mission and principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The principal activities of the CRC – CB Zupanja are: social welfare, improvement and protection of health, voluntary blood donation, the search service, care and assistance at home, kitchen for specific categories of people, rest and recuperation of children, youth camp of the Red Cross. Beneficiaries of our program are children and young people, old and helpless, socially disadvantaged persons, refugees and displaced persons, children and adults with disabilities, members of the Croatian Red Cross and blood donors. The Red Cross operates in Županja for 100 years. The CRC – CB Zupanja operates in the city Zupanja and municipalities Babina Greda, Bosnjaci, Cerna, Drenovci, Gradiste, Gunja, Stitar and Vrbanja. In 2001 the CRC – CB Zupanja founded the Club for people with mental and associated disabilities, and since April 2012 the Daycare service for people with mental and intellectual disabilities has been established and working in its own new building with 40 beneficiaries. The main task of the Daycare service is to enable its members more independent and autonomous life and work, work for income in partially protected conditions and to make them less dependent on direct assistance, supervision and care of their families and the community as a whole, to improve the quality of life and integration into the local community. The specific tasks of educational work with people with mental and intellectual disabilities are: • developing preserved abilities; • improving psychomotor skills; • developing work and other habits; • improving speech and language resources; • adoption of elementary practical knowledge about the natural social environment; • developing skills and habits of behavior necessary for successful socialization; • collaboration with parents.
